This page is an example, from our most recent rehearsal/performances, for Singing Up a Storm 2024, of the possible rehearsal aids that we could serve on our website. It’s a prototype, our first effort.  There will be improvements for the Autumn Rehearsal!  For example, we’ve developed the capacity to make downloading easier, and we expect also to serve sheet music, links to alternate renditions of the songs as available (as for example the klapa octet version of U Našeg Marina), and notes/comments relevant to the number as they come in.  For now, this is a demonstration of what’s possible.

The RECORDING Column comprises clips of each song as recorded at the Gatehouse of Fleet concert.

From this table, you may click on the links to either DOWNLOAD [DL] the file (as a Word.docx document), or VIEW [pdf] or LISTEN/Hear [mp3] in your browser.  When you’ve listened to any particular track, please use your browser’s back arrow to return to this Table page.

To Download mp3 files, from your browser (if it supports this capacity), click on the stack of 3 dots (vertical ellipsis) to the right of your browser’s mp3 player’s soundtrack for the Download option.    Further instructions for downloading sound files are provided beneath the table, but note that on iPhone or iPad devices, ‘click and hold’ elicits a menu of options including Download Linked File.

But, oh dear, we’re discovering different devices have different ways of saving files.  On an iPad, for example, it seems that the standard ‘share’ icon at the top, the square with the arrow coming out of it, has a variety of menu options available, with one being ‘Save to File’. 

It will be important to know what challenges members face in downloading the sound files, so that we can be sure of universal accessibility, so this will be a great reason to respond to the survey, if difficulties are identified, or if not.

 

On Apple devices, especially the Apple share icon is your friend, wherever it appears (on iPhones, typically at the bottom of the screen during the playback).  The submenu of Share contains a ‘Save to File’ option, which is where you can save the sound files on your phone.
