The Apex Singers Concert and Workshop

Mar 17, 2026

Ollie Lambert, Artistic Director of The Apex Singers and a colleague of Kate Howard, sends along this notice of a concert and workshop at The Buccleuch Centre, Langholm on Sunday the 3rd of May, 2026.

I’m getting in touch as the Artistic Director of The Apex Singers, a Manchester-based eight-part vocal ensemble known for our bespoke arrangements of folk songs from around the world. Our unique sound blends classical choral music, traditional folk, and contemporary a cappella, all performed amplified and unaccompanied.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the group, here are a few recordings:

We’re delighted to be presenting a workshop and concert at The Buccleuch Centre, Langholm on Sunday 3rd May 2026.
Scratch Choir Workshop – 5:00pm-6:30pm
Led by the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble, The Apex Singers, this 90-minute vocal workshop invites you to explore the art of a cappella ensemble singing alongside group members and fellow vocal music lovers. You’ll discover how to create a unified ensemble sound, learn exercises and techniques that The Apex Singers employ to create their signature blend, and enjoy the opportunity to perform together with The Apex Singers.

No sheet music or prior preparation is required to take part in this workshop. The material taught on the day allows us to focus on ensemble technique, listening skills, and developing a unified group sound. Participants will be invited to perform the arrangement they learn in the workshop during the evening concert.
I’m getting in touch as we’re keen to welcome a strong audience of local singing enthusiasts to both the workshop and concert. I wanted to offer a 10% group discount for members of your choirs on bookings of 10 or more tickets.

I hope the event will be of interest to your singers, and I’d be very grateful for your help in sharing it with your members and, if possible, organising a group booking.
