Claire Coulson kindly sends news, through the Autumn Newsletter, of Scottish Opera’s gig (Opera Highlights) coming up on stage at The Fullarton, Castle Douglas, on the 25th of October, but also presenting a live workshop on How to Stage an Opera at The Zone, Castle Douglas, on the 18th of October.

Opera Highlights Taking opera out of the opera house and into your local venue, four singers form the cast of colleagues navigating workplace dynamics. With a brand-new show, we head back to the office transforming recognisable situations – forbidden crushes and awkward workplace conversations – for the stage.

How to stage an opera During the tour, we are running free workshops for anyone who is interested in opera, drama or music.

Led by musical specialist Karen MacIver, theatre practitioner Eleanor Felton, and opera singer Andy McTaggert, this interactive workshop will uncover in-depth techniques of dramatic storytelling and characterisation through the power of opera and music.

Open to all ages. No previous experience is required, but lots of enthusiasm!
