This panorama, taken by Barbara Lynch, captures a choir of two halves: cheerful tenors and altos on Kate Howard’s right hand, concentrating sopranos and basses on her left.
It was a full-on day of listening as Kate lined out each part. A good two hours plus in the morning, and nearly two in the afternoon after our potluck lunch. It was good to hear each other sing, once we got our parts reasonably together.
The songs are a great combination, an eclectic mix of choral music created for a capella singing, in harmony, and they seemed to reflect an intense passion for the natural world. It should be great fun to rehearse throughout this coming ‘spring’ terms, and on into the ‘summer’ season before our concert weekend around the summer solstice.
